Beautification. What a lovely word and so desriptive of Mountainbrook. We have beauty, not just open space. This is part of what makes Mountainbrook the special neighborhood it is. Blessed with abundant trees, gracious homes, and spacious yards, Mountainbook is an inviting green and shady landscape. Not least amongst those landscapes are those maintained by your civic association.

There are three landscaped entrances to our neighborhood: Sharon View, Carmel Road, and Rustic Lane. Both Sharon View and Carmel Road have entrance islands as well as plantings along the sides. In addition, there is a long island in Mountainbrook Road planted in Yoshino Cherries. Alice's Triangle is a wooded "park" with a stream near the entrance to the Anne Heinig Memorial Park and the Mountainbrook Club (both separately maintained by others). There are three cul-de-sac circles as well as a traffic circle on Tinkerbell. To keep us looking our best,  KN Lawn Service provides weekly maintenance, fertilization, pruning, and overseeding of these areas. Seasonal color (annuals etc.) is planted and maintained by the Beautification Committee. This committee provides other hands-on landscape work to supplement (and keep costs down) the regular maintenance provided by our contractor.

Plans and Projects. Unfortunately some of our plantings are looking sad due to aging plant material and last year's drought. Therefore, the Civic Association contracted with Myron Greer Garden Design to produce a master plan for the two main entrances with a very strong emphasis on choosing plant material as drought proof and low maintenance as possible. The right plant for the right place. Implementation of this plan, due to budget constraints, will take time and fund-raising.

Meanwhile there are many opportunities for you to join with the Beautification Committee to spiff up what we have as well as plant seasonal color.
